The SANAKO Story

In 1961, Tandberg, a Norwegian company, produced its first language lab and during the next 18 years, grew to become the leader in the production and supply of language labs globally. By 1979, a Finnish company, Teleste, had purchased a brand known as Auditek, which supplied language labs mainly in Europe, and in 1984 decision makers at Teleste approved the acquisition of Tandberg Educational, which was responsible for the production of the well-known language lab brand.

Following the production of the world’s first language lab with GUI (Graphical User Interface) in 1991, Teleste achieved consecutive firsts in the field of language teaching by producing a virtual recorder in 1996, and a real-time virtual language lab in 2000. During this time, Teleste had developed one production line to represent the 2 distinct brands, Tandberg and Auditek.

The Divace name came into being following a management buyout of Teleste in 2001, and in 2003, the decision was taken to unite all of the brands (Divace, Tandberg, Teleste) under one new global brand - SANAKO.
